Jodie Cabban
Jodie is an experienced Physiotherapist with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science and a Masters of Physiotherapy. A Lake Cathie local, she has spent most of her career in Melbourne working in musculoskeletal private practice.
As a mother of two, Jodie’s personal experience with the lack of individualized care for women, particularly mums, inspired her special interest in pre & post-natal care, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and diastasis recti correction. She has since helped many women of all ages regain confidence in their bodies through her compassionate, and holistic approach.
In addition to her work with women, Jodie also enjoys helping patients manage back pain, neck pain, headaches, and sports injuries. She takes a hands-on, evidence-based approach to treatment, empowering patients to move and feel better. Her treatments include manual therapy (soft tissue massage and joint mobilization), dry needling, postural correction, rehab exercises, and Clinical Pilates. Jodie believes Pilates is the fountain of youth!

WHAT IS CLINICAL PILATES?Clinical Pilates is an effective form of low impact resistance training that is carried out under the guidance of a Physiotherapist. Whether you are rehabilitating an injury, managing a chronic condition, or just want to strengthen and tone your body, you will benefit from having a tailor-made exercise program that has your specific goals and limitations in mind. While exercising, you will receive expert hands-on technique-correction and coaching that ensures you are getting the most out of every session.
-
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM PILATES?Pilates is low impact strength training so it is particularly great for people with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, pelvic floor issues, women coming into menopause, pregnant and post-natal women, people recovering from injuries or surgeries, or anyone looking to improve their strength, mobility, mood and general wellbeing. Pilates promotes strength, balance, mindfulness, flexibility and control, fostering overall well-being and vitality. The equipment is versatile and can be adjusted to suit your needs and abilities. HOW CAN PHYSIO AND 1:1 PILATES HELP MY CORE AND DIASTISIS RECTI (AB SEPARATION)?Jodie will do an assessment to find the reasons that your diastisis recti hasn't healed yet. We will look at things like posture, movement patterns, muscle imbalance, breathing mechanics, rib and thoracic mobility. You will then be guided through an individualised program to correct it. You will learn how to correctly engage your core, by coordinating movement with the breath & pelvic floor. Feel confident that you are doing carefully selected exercises will help, not hinder, your Diastisis Recti.
-
DO YOU DO INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS AND FIT PESSARIES?No, but I can refer you- if this becomes necessary.
-
HOW CAN PHYSIO AND 1:1 PILATES HELP MY PELVIC FLOOR ISSUES LIKE LEAKING AND PROLAPSE?During a consultation, Jodie can give advice and practical tips for improving Pelvic floor issues. You may unknowingly have sub-optimal movement patterns or behaviours that are getting in the way of your recovery. We will look at things like posture, breathing mechanics, spinal & rib mobility, strength, muscle imbalances and the kinetic chain. In Pilates, we will go way beyond Kegels! We can work on mobility, lifting technique, correcting muscle imbalances, core strengthening, pelvic floor strength & relaxation. We also use Pilates for global strengthening to reduce the overall load on the pelvic floor. Don't let it drag you down, come and get it fixed!
